Borate minerals are locally few in number, but one, sussexite, was abundant at Sterling Hill. The occurrence of these borates is supportive of a sedimentary protore for the deposits, and they are moderately distributed in minor amounts at both deposits. Borates are known from the Franklin Marble, in which they occur in bands throughout its length (Moore, 1992; 1994b). The locally occurring borate minerals are listed below.
