Strontianite, a strontium carbonate mineral of the aragonite group, was found among museum specimens mislabeled aragonite (Dunn, 1979c) and was verified using X-ray methods. Strontianite occurs as radiating clusters of acicular delicate bright-white crystals. No physical or chemical measurements have been made. It is unknown from Sterling Hill. The extant Franklin specimens consist of the strontianite clusters in vugs in low-grade franklinite-willemite- calcite-serpentine ore.
