Oligoclase, a sodium calcium aluminum silicate mineral of the feldspar group, was first reported from pegmatites in Franklin by Palache (1935) and later from the gneisses by Hague et al. (1956) and Baker and Buddington (1970). Frondel (1972) reported it in the lit-par-lit pegmatites in the gneiss. It has not been studied further and has not been reported from Sterling Hill.
