Sauconite, a zinc aluminum silicate hydroxide hydrate mineral of the clay group, was reported from Sterling Hill by Frondel (1972) as a component of the mixture of Zn-minerals referred to as vaneuxemite and associated with hemimorphite. There have been no published modern studies of this material. It has not been reported from Franklin.
