Tetragonal
Thorite, a thorium silicate mineral, was first described from Franklin by Kemp (1893a) and subsequently reported from the Cork Hill Gneiss by Frondel (1972). It has not been studied by the writer. It was reported to occur as dark brown 1 cm grains associated with zircon, in pegmatite from the Trotter Mine. It has not been reported from Sterling Hill.
